Kashmir 5 Nights 6 Days PackageComplete Itinerary, Real Cost & Booking Guide — 2026

Five nights and six days is the most popular Kashmir trip duration — not by accident. It is exactly long enough to cover every major destination in the valley without turning any single day into a mad rush. Srinagar's lakes and Mughal gardens. Gulmarg's Gondola and snowfields. Pahalgam's meadow valleys and the Lidder River. Sonamarg's glacier and alpine drive. All four, done properly, in six days.

Shorter packages make compromises. The Kashmir 4 nights 5 days package usually drops either Sonamarg or gives you only half a day in Pahalgam — and Pahalgam rushed is Pahalgam wasted. Go longer and the Kashmir 6 nights 7 days package gives you a slower, more relaxed circuit with an offbeat day built in. But if you have exactly six days and want to see everything that matters? This is the package.

Our Kashmir 5 nights 6 days package starts from ₹16,149 per person — houseboat on Dal Lake, private cab for all six days, breakfast and dinner, airport pickup and drop, and local sightseeing included. No aggregator markup, no call centres in Delhi. We are a Kashmir-based company. Our drivers live here. Our team answers your calls when conditions change — because in Kashmir, they sometimes do.

Not sure how many days you actually need? Read our guide on how many days to spend in Kashmir before deciding.

Why 5 Nights 6 Days Is the Right Duration for Kashmir

This is the most common question we get before someone books. Here is an honest breakdown by trip length so you can decide what suits you.

Duration What You Cover Best For What Gets Missed
3 nights / 4 days Srinagar + Gulmarg day trip Long weekend, first preview Pahalgam, Sonamarg
4 nights / 5 days Srinagar + Gulmarg + Pahalgam Limited leave, quick first trip Sonamarg, second Srinagar day
5 nights / 6 days ✓ All four destinations — full circuit First-timers, families, couples Nothing essential
6 nights / 7 days Full circuit + Yusmarg or Doodhpathri Relaxed pace, repeat visitors

The 5 nights 6 days format hits the sweet spot for 80% of first-time Kashmir visitors. It accounts for over 60% of all Kashmir tour bookings. If you are travelling as a couple on a honeymoon, the same duration works beautifully — we adjust the pace and properties to match.

Kashmir 5 Nights 6 Days — Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day Base What Happens
Day 1 Srinagar Airport pickup → houseboat check-in on Dal Lake → Nishat Bagh & Shalimar Bagh → evening Shikara ride
Day 2 Srinagar Hazratbal Shrine → Shankaracharya Temple → Old Srinagar city walk → Polo View Market shopping
Day 3 Srinagar (day trip) Gulmarg (50 km) → Gondola Phase 1 & 2 → snow activities → Khilanmarg meadows → return
Day 4 Pahalgam Drive via Pampore saffron fields & Avantipura ruins → Pahalgam check-in → Lidder River walk → Baisaran Valley
Day 5 Pahalgam Betaab Valley → Chandanwari (Amarnath Yatra base) → Aru Valley → Pahalgam market
Day 6 Sonamarg + Departure Early departure (7 AM) → Sonamarg (87 km) → Thajiwas Glacier trek or pony ride → return to Srinagar → airport drop

Day 6 is a Sonamarg day trip timed around your departure flight. We depart early to give you 4–5 hours at the glacier before the return drive to Srinagar. Confirm your flight time when you book so we plan the departure accordingly. Visiting in winter? Read our full guide on places to visit in Ganderbal — which includes Sonamarg — to understand what changes in the colder months.

Day 1 — Arrival in Srinagar

Your driver meets you at Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport with a name placard. Transfer to your houseboat on Dal Lake — the classic first Kashmir experience. Once settled, the afternoon begins with the Mughal Gardens: Nishat Bagh (built 1633, 12 terraced levels) and Shalimar Bagh (commissioned by Emperor Jahangir). If you're visiting in March or April, we add the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden — Asia's largest tulip garden, which blooms right on the Dal Lake hillside. Evening ends with a private one-hour Shikara ride on Dal Lake. If you want the full picture before you arrive, our Kashmir in May guide covers what to expect season by season.

Day 2 — Srinagar City

The second Srinagar day is for the parts of the city most itineraries skip. Hazratbal Shrine — the only domed mosque in Kashmir, set right on the northwestern shore of Dal Lake, holding a relic of the Prophet that draws enormous pilgrimages. Shankaracharya Temple, perched at 1,100 feet on the Zabarwan hillside with the most complete panoramic view of the Dal Lake basin you'll find. Old Srinagar's wooden mosques, spice lanes, and bakeries. Polo View Market for pashmina shawls, saffron, and walnut wood carvings. This is the Srinagar most day-trippers never reach.

Day 3 — Gulmarg Excursion

50 km from Srinagar, Gulmarg sits at 2,650 metres — the approach road alone is worth the trip, winding through apple orchards and pine forest before breaking into the open bowl of the meadow. The Gondola cable car (world's highest operating gondola) runs in two phases: Phase 1 to Kongdoori at 3,080 metres, Phase 2 to Apharwat Peak at 3,980 metres. Phase 2 gives you year-round snow and views to Nanga Parbat on clear days. Snow activities, pony rides to Khilanmarg, and the world's highest 18-hole golf course are all here. Gondola tickets must be pre-booked at etickets.jammukashmircablecar.com — we remind you when your trip is confirmed.

Day 4 — Drive to Pahalgam

The drive to Pahalgam via Pampore passes through Kashmir's saffron belt — the only place in India where Kashmiri saffron is grown, and October through November you see the purple fields in bloom. The Avantipura ruins (9th-century temple complex on the Jhelum bank) are a quick roadside stop that most drivers skip but shouldn't. Pahalgam check-in, then the afternoon for the Lidder River valley — the river runs cold and clear right through the town, and an evening walk along its banks is the easiest introduction to why this place is called the Valley of Shepherds. Baisaran Valley (Mini Switzerland) pony ride available at own cost if you arrive before 4 PM.

Day 5 — Pahalgam Valleys

The full Pahalgam day covers three distinct valleys — all requiring the local union taxis (not your private cab, which is a fixed local arrangement). Betaab Valley, named after the 1983 Bollywood film shot here, is a wide alpine bowl with a stream running through meadows surrounded by dense conifer. Chandanwari, 16 km from Pahalgam at 2,895 metres, is the starting point of the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage and has snow available most of the year. Aru Valley, 12 km northwest, is quieter, greener, and the base for several high-altitude treks. Three valleys in one day is a full programme; most visitors pick two and spend more time in each. We help you decide based on your group.

Day 6 — Sonamarg Day Trip & Departure

The return leg to Srinagar detours through Sonamarg — 87 km from Pahalgam, along a drive that follows the Sindh River through dense birch and pine before the valley opens into the meadow. Sonamarg sits at 2,800 metres in Ganderbal district (read our full Ganderbal travel guide for context on the region). The Thajiwas Glacier is 3 km from the town — accessible by pony or on foot. The walk takes 1–2 hours each way through alpine meadows. Snow activities and sledging are available even in July. We calculate the departure time based on your flight — if you have an evening flight, you get comfortable glacier time before the airport drop.

Kashmir 5 Nights 6 Days Package — Cost Breakdown 2026

Here is what to actually expect to pay, across three tiers. All prices are land costs only — flights are not included. For a full breakdown of what a Kashmir trip costs end to end including flights, see our Budget Kashmir Trip guide.

Tier Price Per Person Accommodation Vehicle Best For
Budget ₹16,149 Standard houseboat on Dal Lake, 3-star hotels Private cab (shared with group) Solo travellers, small groups, students
Standard ₹23,750 Deluxe houseboat, 4-star hotels in Pahalgam & Gulmarg Private cab (couple/family exclusive) Couples, families wanting privacy
Premium ₹32,000+ Premium Nigeen Lake houseboat, 5-star or boutique properties Innova Crysta or equivalent, dedicated driver Honeymoon, luxury travellers, special occasions

Children under 5 are free. Children aged 5–12 receive a 25–50% discount depending on accommodation. Family group quotes available — contact us directly for groups of 4 or more.

What Drives the Price Difference?

Three things move the cost up or down: accommodation category, whether the cab is exclusive to your group, and which add-ons you include. The ₹16,149 budget tier uses comfortable standard properties — clean, well-located, with proper meals. It is not bottom-of-barrel; it is what most travellers from metros are comfortable with. The jump to Standard (₹23,750) mainly buys you a nicer houseboat and exclusive cab use. Premium buys a significantly better houseboat experience and luxury hill properties. None of the tiers compromise on the private cab, driver quality, or meal structure — those stay consistent.

Best Time to Book This Package — Season by Season

Kashmir changes character dramatically with the seasons. Here is what each window actually delivers on a 5N6D itinerary, and what to watch for.

Season Months Conditions Book Ahead
Spring March – May Tulip Garden in bloom (April), Gulmarg meadows turning green, full water flow at Sonamarg. Most scenic and popular window. Temperatures pleasant 10–22°C in the valley. 6–8 weeks ahead
Summer June – August All four destinations fully open. Valley warm (20–30°C), Sonamarg and Gulmarg cool. Pahalgam valleys at their greenest. Busiest tourist season. 4–6 weeks ahead
Autumn September – October Chinar trees turn gold and red. Saffron fields bloom at Pampore in October. Fewer crowds, crisp light — excellent for photography. Temperatures begin dropping after mid-October. 3–4 weeks ahead
Winter December – February Gulmarg in full ski season. Dal Lake may freeze in January. Sonamarg road sometimes closed — Day 6 adjusted to second Gulmarg day or extended Srinagar time. Snow-capable vehicles used. 4–6 weeks ahead

Travelling in April? We have a complete Kashmir April travel guide with what to expect at each destination. For May travel, our Kashmir in May guide covers the transition from spring to early summer in detail.

Who Is This Package For?

Families

The 5N6D format works extremely well for families — enough variety to keep everyone engaged, enough rest built in that it doesn't feel like a marathon. The Shikara ride on Day 1, the Gondola on Day 3, the pony rides at Pahalgam and Sonamarg — all child-friendly. Larger families (4+ people) get a dedicated vehicle. For a detailed family-specific breakdown with kid-friendly activity planning, read our Kashmir family itinerary guide.

Couples & Honeymoon

The houseboat stay on Dal Lake, the Shikara ride at dusk, the meadows at Baisaran, the Thajiwas Glacier at sunrise — Kashmir on a honeymoon is what the destination is famous for. The Standard and Premium tiers are designed specifically for couples wanting exclusivity and a slower, more private pace. See our Kashmir Honeymoon Package or read about the best honeymoon places in Kashmir for the full picture.

Solo Travellers & Small Groups

The Budget tier (₹16,149) is structured for solo travellers and small groups who want full coverage without paying couple-package prices. You get a private cab and driver rather than shared transport — which in Kashmir makes a significant practical difference given the distances and road conditions.

Why Book With a Kashmir-Based Company?

Most Kashmir package websites operate out of Delhi or Jaipur. They book houseboats through intermediaries, coordinate drivers by phone from a different state, and handle problems — road closures, weather changes, accommodation issues — by calling the same local contacts you could call yourself. We are not one of those companies.

  • Our office is in Kashmir. Our team lives here year-round.
  • We inspect our accommodation partners regularly — not just list them.
  • When Sonamarg road closes unexpectedly, we know before you do and we call you first.
  • Our drivers are local, know the seasonal road conditions, and speak Kashmiri, Hindi, and enough English to handle your trip needs.
  • 24/7 WhatsApp support throughout your trip — same number, same person.

For a transparent look at how Kashmir trip costs actually break down, read our Budget Kashmir Trip guide — it shows what you're paying for at each price point across all Kashmir operators, not just ours.

Frequently Asked Questions — Kashmir 5 Nights 6 Days Package

What is the cost of a Kashmir 5 nights 6 days package in 2026?

Our Kashmir 5 nights 6 days package starts from ₹16,149 per person (group/budget tier). The Standard couple package is approximately ₹23,750 per person with a private houseboat on Dal Lake and exclusive cab. Premium packages with Nigeen Lake houseboat and luxury hill properties start from ₹32,000 per person. All prices are land costs — flights are additional. For a full trip cost breakdown including flights, accommodation upgrades, and activity costs, see our Budget Kashmir Trip guide.

What places are covered in the 5 nights 6 days Kashmir itinerary?

The standard 5N6D itinerary covers: Srinagar (Days 1–2) — houseboat, Dal Lake Shikara, Mughal Gardens, Hazratbal, Shankaracharya Temple; Gulmarg (Day 3 excursion) — Gondola, Khilanmarg, snow activities; Pahalgam (Days 4–5) — Betaab Valley, Aru Valley, Chandanwari, Baisaran; and Sonamarg (Day 6 excursion) — Thajiwas Glacier. All four major Kashmir destinations in one circuit.

Is the Gulmarg Gondola included in the package price?

No. The Gondola must be pre-booked online through the official J&K cable car website — tickets cost ₹800–₹1,900 per person depending on whether you take Phase 1 only or both phases. We guide you through the booking process when your trip is confirmed. Don't leave this to arrival day — slots fill fast in peak season.

Can this itinerary be customised?

Yes, completely. Want two nights in Pahalgam instead of one? We rebuild it. Want to skip Sonamarg and add Yusmarg on Day 6? Done. Travelling with elderly family and need a slower pace? We adjust each day. Call +91 9797776779 or contact us here with what you have in mind.

What type of houseboat is included?

The Budget tier includes a standard houseboat on Dal Lake with attached bathroom, hot water, and included meals. Standard tier upgrades to a deluxe houseboat. Premium tier uses a premium houseboat on Nigeen Lake — quieter, more scenic, and significantly more private than the main Dal Lake stretch. Mention your preference at booking.

Is this package available in winter?

Yes. The winter version (December–February) keeps the same structure but adjusts Day 6 — Sonamarg road may close in heavy snowfall, in which case we replace it with a second Gulmarg day (skiing, snow activities) or extended Srinagar heritage time. Snow-capable vehicles are used for all winter trips. Gulmarg in ski season is a significant draw in itself.

How far in advance should I book?

Spring (April–May): 6–8 weeks ahead. Summer (June–August) and peak winter (December–January): 4–6 weeks. Autumn (September–October): 3–4 weeks. Gondola tickets at Gulmarg should be booked online as soon as your trip is confirmed — these sell out in peak season regardless of when you book the main package.

Is there a specific Kashmir itinerary for families with children?

Yes — the 5N6D format suits families very well, but we adjust activities for children (pony rides replace treks, Baisaran Valley before Chandanwari, etc.). We also recommend the Kashmir family itinerary guide which covers age-specific planning in detail. For families of 4 or more, we quote directly with a suitable vehicle.
